Biography

Christoph Urbanek is a partner at Schindler Attorneys. He is a powerhouse in his field of real estate finance and law, and specializes in all key areas of the project and financing sector. Christoph’s clients include national and international investors, banks, project-developers, and various other companies from the real estate and renewable energy sectors. He is an expert in real estate transaction and financing, restructurings and investment law.

Christoph studied law at the University of Vienna and is a member of the Austrian Board of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). He began his professional career at Kommunalkredit Austria as an in-house attorney in the treasury department. After a one-year stint at Cerha Hempel's predecessor in Banking & Finance, he continued his clerkship in 2004 at DLA Piper in the Finance and Projects team and was admitted to the bar in 2008. He remained at DLA Piper Weiss-Tessbach in Vienna where he practiced for nearly 17 years, nine of which as an equity partner. Christoph joined Schindler Attorneys in 2021 where heads the Real Estate Finance and Law practice.

In his advisory work, he focuses on international transactions, both in German-speaking countries and in all countries of Central and Eastern Europe. In addition to his expertise in banking/financing law and real estate law, he also focuses on M&A, and corporate agendas, corporate reorganizations in addition to private equity and regulatory issues in banking and investment law.

Christoph has been a lecturer at the University of Vienna, FH Wien der WKW, FH Joanneum, bfi Wien and FH Donau Uni Krems for several years. He teaches regulatory banking law, financing and credit protection law, real estate law and insolvency law.
